How We’re Different

As a small organization, Little Flowers Montessori School provides unrivaled high-quality, Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) accredited Montessori education while also placing a strong emphasis on building a close-knit community of like-minded parents. Members of our community share a common appreciation for the Montessori Method, prioritize the well-being of each community member, and place a high value on both teachers and education. This community-oriented approach fosters a supportive and nurturing environment where parents are actively involved in their child’s education and work collaboratively with the school and teachers to ensure their children’s success. By combining our top-notch education with a strong sense of community, Little Flowers Montessori School creates an environment that is truly unmatched in terms of quality and support for its students.

  • Little Flowers Montessori School stands as the sole beacon of AMI accreditation in the northwest suburbs of Minneapolis. As the only AMI accredited Montessori school in this region, we are committed to providing unparalleled educational excellence and personalized learning experiences for your child.

  • At Little Flowers Montessori School, we remain true to the Montessori Method and do not adopt new trends and give into the latest fads. We believe in the importance of consistency and a child-centered approach to education. Our commitment to the Montessori Method means that we prioritize the needs and interests of the child, rather than following the latest trends or catering to the demands of society. By maintaining consistency and staying true to the Montessori philosophy, we are able to provide an education that fosters children's independence, self-discipline, and lifelong love of learning.

  • At Little Flowers Montessori School, we fully embrace the Montessori Method and philosophy of education which emphasizes the respect for each child as an individual with unique abilities and interests. We believe that children learn best through hands-on experiences and exploration of their environment. Our environments are designed to foster independence, creativity, and critical thinking skills by providing a carefully prepared space with materials that are developmentally appropriate and engaging. Each lead guide serves to help each child discover and pursue their passions while also cultivating a sense of community and responsibility.

  • Firstly, as a small school, we can ensure that each student receives personalized attention and their individual learning needs are met. This is because our lead guides can develop a deep understanding of each student’s unique strengths, weaknesses, and interests, and tailor the lessons to meet each child’s needs.

Secondly, by having a stable leadership team that is actively involved in the day-to-day operations of the school, we can ensure that the school’s core values and principles are upheld. This allows us to maintain consistency to our approach to the Montessori Method and learning for all of our students.

Thirdly, as a small school we are able to maintain a clear focus on what is best for our students. The application of the Montessori Method, our teaching methods, and discipline decisions are all made based on the needs of the students. This results in a more stable and consistent learning environment.

Finally, as a small school we are able to maintain a higher degree of autonomy. Our leadership team is able to make decisions based on what is best for the students and the school’s mission.

  • Little Flowers Montessori School takes a unique philosophy that prioritizes the needs of our students above all else. Our approach is founded on the principles of the Montessori Method and we remain true to all facets that Dr. Maria Montessori instilled.

What sets us apart is our leadership team, who are all AMI-Montessori trained and actively involved in the daily classroom operations. This allows us to ensure that our application of the Montessori Method is consistent with the Montessori pedagogy and that we can provide the individualized attention and support that each child needs to thrive.

Our school is operated by our founder, rather than a board of directors, which allows us to make decisions that prioritize the well-being and growth of our students above all other considerations. Our commitment to prioritizing the needs of our students over other interests is at the heart of everything that we do.

  • At Little Flowers Montessori School we only offer two enrollment periods which allows us to create consistent learning environments.

The Montessori classrooms are designed to be stable and predictable environments, with a strong emphasis on community building and social development. We have found that always introducing new students throughout the year, disrupts this carefully crafted dynamic and makes it more difficult for our students to develop strong relationships with their peers and lead guides. This is why we strictly adhere to our two enrollment periods.

The Montessori Method is carefully structured and designed to build upon previous knowledge and experiences. By only offering two enrollment periods, we can ensure that all of our students and parents are starting the school year together, with a shared understanding of the expectations and routines of the classroom and school environments. This helps us to create a more cohesive and supportive community, where all students and parents feel valued and supported.

Overall, our two enrollment periods helps us to protect the unique learning environment that we have carefully created while also ensuring that all of our students have the opportunity to fully immerse in the Montessori Method and build strong relationships with their peers and lead guides.

  • Little Flowers Montessori School is proud to have a team of lead guides who all hold the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) Montessori diploma, which is widely recognized as the highest level of training of Montessori educators.

Our lead guides have participated in rigorous training which has equipped them with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively implement the Montessori Method, and to support the unique needs and learning styles of each individual student. Having lead guides with the AMI Montessori diploma is a testament to Little Flowers Montessori School’s commitment to providing high-quality Montessori education.

In addition to their formal training, our lead guides bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the classroom. They are passionate about working with children and are dedicated to helping each student reach their full potential.

Along with our highly trained and qualified Montessori lead guides, our school also places a strong emphasis on ensuring that our support staff are knowledgeable and skilled in their roles. We reqiure all support staff to hold at least a bachelor’s degree, which demonstrates their commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.

To ensure that our support staff are fully equipped to meet the needs of our students, they are extensively trained by our leadership team and lead guides. This training covers a range of topics including child development, behavior management, and the Montessori philosophy and methodology.

At Little Flowers Montessori School, we believe that our commitment to highly trained lead guides and support staff is a key factor in the success of our students. By providing our lead guides and support staff with the knowledge, skills, and support they need, we can ensure that every child who attends Little Flowers Montessori School has the opportunity to reach their full potential, both academically and personally.

  • At Little Flowers Montessori School we prepare the child for the path, not the path for the child. We achieve this by focusing on individualized learning, developmentally appropriate education, developing the confidence to take on risks, self-directed learning, and preparing children for life. We do not shy away from presenting developmentally appropriate challenges to children, as we believe that it is through challenges that they develop the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed on their own path.

  • The Montessori Method is a holistic approach to education that emphasizes the development of the whole child. At Little Flowers Montessori School we foster each child’s natural curiosity and independence in our beautifully prepared environments. This approach develops the child’s whole self, including their social, emotional, and cognitive growth. By encouraging independence, collaboration, problem-solving, time-management, and emotional regulation, we are able to help children develop the critical soft-skills, such as confidence, critical thinking, empathy, and self-control, all which are necessary for future success.

  • At Little Flowers Montessori school, we take great pride in providing a unique educational experience that sets us apart from other Montessori and early childhood schools. Unlike other classroom settings, our Montessori classrooms are carefully designed to meet the developmental needs of each child, allowing them to learn at their own pace and foster independent thinking, self-motivation, and a love of learning.

Our experienced Montessori-trained lead guides are dedicated to creating a safe and nurturing environment where each child is encouraged to explore and discover through hands-on learning activities. Through the use of specialized Montessori materials, we are able to engage the children in concrete learning experiences that help to build a strong foundation in key academic areas such as language, math, and science.

Our focus on individualized learning and personalized attention ensures that each child receives the support and guidance they need to thrive academically. As a result, we are proud to say that Little Flowers Montessori School consistently produces kindergarten graduates who are well-prepared for academic success not only for the next grade but for life.

  • One of the major benefits of having a locally owned and operated school is that it allows for a greater degree of responsiveness to the social and cultural nuances of the children and their families. Our founder and staff have a deep understanding of the local community and the needs and values of its members. This ensures that the approach at Little Flowers Montessori School is effective for the children and families who attend the school.
